One of the things I’ve wanted to find out how to do ever since I got myself a TomTom ONE last year was being able to save the GPS track info to a file, so that this data could be later visualized on Google Earth or any of the sport-tracks programs available for jogging, biking, etc. (like TrailRunner for MacOS X). There are several formats to this end, GPX being the more extended one (and XML-based).
I’ve finally found a small program that is installed on the TomTom SD card (that, by the way, is an embedded Linux!) and stores all the GPS data on a GPX file:
Don’t get fooled by its name, as it supports more TomTom models besides the GO. And in fact, there’s a new 7.2 release (as of now only available to those who have donated money to the project) that improves compatibility with all the TomTom models and fixes several annoying issues present on previous releases.
Give it a try, it’s quite useful. And besides archiving routes, Event_Logger adds another feature to the TomTom that’s available on ther GPS units and I really missed on my ONE: automatic night-mode switching, depending on the calculated sunrise/sunset times four your current GPS possition. :)

he instalado el programa para generar ruta, pero ahora soy incapaz de saber como funciona y no encuentro ninguna ayuda…. creio que si ha memorizado alguna ruta, pero no sé visualizarla ni guardarla.. ¿puedes ayudarme ?

Pues si quieres que te diga la verdad, al final me compré un Garmin Forerunner para salir a correr o con la bici y ya no uso ésto con el TomTom…
A ver, había un fichero de configuración en el que se podía editar a saco todo, el directorio donde se guardaban los ficheros, si se guardaban o no, etc. Además si la instalación está bien te añadía una serie de menús en la parte de configuracion para activar/desactivar la grabación de las rutas.
¿Te sale al arrancar un mensaje nuevo, en texto, diciendo que se van a grabar las rutas, o no has notado ningún cambio? A ver si no se está cargando el programa.
Si ves que si está en marcha y activado, las rutas se guardaban no recuerdo si en un directorio “tracks” o algo así. Son ficheros .xml o .gpx que podrás cargar con diversos programas, o en la web http://www.gpsies.com.

Gracias por la respuesta…Si, me salen estos mensajes de texto, pero pensaba que tendría alguna opción desde el propio Tom Tom para iniciar una especie de “demo” del trayecto recorrido o bien usarlo como punto de interés.
